If a patient is not able to sit in an aircraft seat due to physical limitations, a commercial stretcher repatriation may be a viable option.
A stretcher is installed by the aircraft carrier towards the rear of the aircraft, with a small curtain around it for privacy. 2 staff members are provided for this kind of transfer for safety and patient’s comfort.
Southern Cross Assist take all the stress and worry out of the already stressful situation by organising the entire bed to bed transfer, including liaising with the airline in regards to stretcher availability, organising the ambulance for the tarmac transfer, and ensuring access to a medical facility on any stop overs. If required, we are also able to organise hospital admissions.
We are highly skilled in commercial repatriations, and our staff all have in depth knowledge to manage logistical challenges that are involved in these types of transfers.
